Miss Alaska is indeed one of these winter girls, defrosting with every degree of the falling temperature.
Because winter cannot stay for twelve months a year, at least not in the northern hemisphere, she tries to emulate it with her music.
It's an experiment - to let the leaves freeze on a barbecue evening in August, with a cold nose, while a kind of blistering heat is slowly creeping up from the elbow to the shoulder.
I have always liked extremes - and I try to work with them and pair them off with one another.
I like to unwrap and deconstruct things and place them into new, surprising but still suitable surroundings to put them in the spotlight.
You could say that I try to capture the heat of the cold with a zoom lens, like taking a picture of frozen grass leaves in front of an impressive sunrise. I think good music should also give you these
goosebumps.

The result is a side by side of electronic elements and classical songwriting and arrangements, refined with quiet vocals and lyrics.
Often in the background, impossible to be ignored -  the violin. "She is the heat and the cold at the same time. I can't think of a better instrument to express this".

"100 names for snow" is the result of the past three years. 100 names for snow are not enough.

In 2007, Miss Alaska decided to go it alone after a 12-year journey with various bands (Alaska, Poems For Laila etc). "There are some musical experiences and conceptions which cannot be realized in a band with 5 individuals...- so it is no surprise that I try to play all the instruments in my songs myself. That ain't no fun you might say,... but it is! Recording a song is like travelling on your own. And the result is a good travel guide."
Miss Alaska lives and works in Hamburg. Sometimes she's travelling around. Then she's frozen in one place again.
She's been playing music ever since her early childhood and feels inspired by artists like Velvet Underground, Regina Spektor, Sigur Ros,The Notwist, Mum and Steve Reich.
After studying the violin, the piano and singing at the HfMT Hamburg, she's now working in music medicine, with the band "all of them witches" (i saw music), as DJ and she's writing songs for winter girls and and icecream-boys and things between.
